2018 Masar Godolphin trainees graduate at ceremony in Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, together with His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed al Maktoum, presented the nine 2018 Masar Godolphin trainees with their graduation certificates at a ceremony held at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai on Thursday, 29 November.

The nine Emiratis have spent the last nine months immersing themselves in the thoroughbred racing and breeding industry, firstly in Dubai, before travelling to Newmarket, UK, where they had the opportunity to visit many of the top racing establishments and gain invaluable knowledge from industry leaders.

They were also present on many of the race days that contributed to an outstanding year for Team Godolphin, which recorded no fewer than 30 G1 victories, led by the appropriately named Masar, who became the first horse to carry the blue silks to victory in the Derby at Epsom.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hugh Anderson (Managing Director, UK and Dubai) said, “The Masar Godolphin programme was created to develop leaders and to introduce Emirati youth to an industry that we are all hugely passionate about.

“I believe that great leaders are not born but become great from experience and learning.

“I would like to thank His Highness for his vision in creating the programme and thank you to everyone at Godolphin for their hard work in making it such a success.

“I would also like to thank Jumeirah for hosting this wonderful ceremony and the media in attendance for their continued support of Godolphin and our initiatives.

“Finally, I would like to thank the Masar students for their efforts and huge congratulations on their graduation.”

Also in attendance were His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, H.E. Saeed Al Tayer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Meydan Group and Chairman of Dubai Racing Club, plus other guests from the racing industry in the Emirate, partners, media and the graduates’ families.
