Vintage Crop third for Twilight Payment

Twilight Payment came home third in the G3 Vintage Crop Stakes over a mile and six furlongs at Navan, Ireland, on Sunday, April 23.

The four-year-old Teofilo colt, trained by Jim Bolger, raced in third before moving up to second behind the leader Torcedor nine furlongs from home.

He was asked to quicken by jockey Kevin Manning approaching the three-furlong marker and kept on up the straight. Unable to overhaul Torcedor. Twilight Payment lost second place close home to Order Of St George and went down by two lengths in total. Torcedor won in a time of 3m 2.50s on ground described as good.

Joe Osborne, managing director of Godolphin, Ireland, commented: "The two in front of Twilight Payment today were a form horse and a class horse.

“The trainer and jockey were pleased. They think Twilight Payment will be a better horse over two miles, rather than a mile and six furlongs.

“The horse has progressed from his last run and is on the right trajectory. There are no specific targets for him but we will look at the top staying races.”
