Profitable back for another Palace appointment

Top sprinter Profitable goes for a second successive victory in the five-furlong G3 Palace House Stakes (14.20 hrs local time) on his Godolphin debut at Newmarket, UK, on Saturday, May 6.

The Clive Cox-trained five-year-old ran on well to beat Godolphin’s Jungle Cat by half a length 12 months ago in the Palace House Stakes before following up with successes over the same trip in the G2 Temple Stakes at Haydock Park and the G1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, both by a neck.

Profitable also finished fourth over six furlongs in the G1 Darley July Cup on Newmarket's July Course last year and makes his first appearance since coming home seventh in the five-furlong G1 Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp at Chantilly, France, in October.

Clive Cox commented: “I have been very happy with Profitable and he has been training very well through the spring.

“He won this race last year before going on to score in the Temple Stakes and at Royal Ascot and we have given him a similar preparation this season.”

Adam Kirby, on board for all of Profitable’s races in 2016, takes the ride again on the Invincible Spirit horse, who faces from stall one 15 rivals including the first two home in the Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp - Marsha and Washington DC.
