Last to first for Varda in Listed Chief De Beers at Doomben

A brilliant turn of foot carried Varda to an overwhelming victory that added her name to an impressive family list in Saturday’s Listed Chief De Beers Handicap at Doomben.

The four-year-old daughter of Lonhro is out of Wild Queen, a Group-winning half-sister to the G1 winner Kementari, the Listed winner Telperion and the city winner Valaquenta.

Varda turned into the short Doomben straight the last of the 12 runners, before unleashing a powerful burst to register her sixth win and first at Stakes level by three quarters of a length from Kylease with Mishani Hustler in third place.
