Record-breaking Harry Angel joins Godolphin

J A McGrath

The brilliant Harry Angel has been bought by Godolphin and now heads to Royal Ascot's G1 Commonwealth Cup.

The three-year-old, who has won two of his four starts, smashed the course record for six furlongs when landing the G2 Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock Park last Saturday. He recorded a time of 1min 8.56sec.

He will remain in the stable of Clive Cox, who described the sprinter as "a very special horse."

John Ferguson, Godolphin's chief executive and racing manager, said: "Harry Angel is one of the most brilliant young horses in training and we are delighted to have purchased him.

"Not only is he a fantastic prospect for all the major G1 sprints, being a son of Dark Angel, he also has the added attraction of being a potential stallion.

"We are also excited about having another top horse with Clive Cox, whose expertise and reputation is second to none," he added.
