Kinshachi heads Godolphin Queensland prospects

Mike Hedge

A good draw and her ability to handle wet tracks has made Kinshachi the flag-bearer for the Godolphin team when she runs in the Listed Gai Waterhouse Stakes at Ipswich, Queensland, on Saturday.

Kinshachi (Darren Beadman/Damien Browne) is one of four stakes runners who will carry the royal blue silks at the meeting which seems bound to be run on a heavy track.

“Her run behind Bonny O’Reilly the other day was quite OK. She was beaten less than three lengths and is probably down in grade a bit here,” Beadman said.

“It looks like being another heavy track up there on Saturday, she handles that and she’s up to this class.”

She is joined in the race by stablemate Maternal (Darren Beadman/Jeff Lloyd) who also has good prospects despite a wide gate.

“The wide draw isn’t a help, but she’s got good gate speed and Jeff Lloyd up," Beadman said.

“She’s also quite happy on a soft track as she showed when she won at Doomben two weeks ago.”

Federal (Darren Beadman/Corey Brown) and Handfast (Darren Beadman/Robbie Fradd) tackle the Listed Eye Liner Stakes, dropping back from G2-level at the previous runs.

“They’ve gone around in the same races at their past two runs and haven’t been too far from each other,” Beadman said.

“Unfortunately they haven’t drawn too well so it’ll be a case of hoping they get cover and good rides.”
